Where to stay in Warren, MI

About Warren, MI

Originally founded in 1830 as Beebe's Corners, Warren is now the largest suburb in the Metro Detroit area. It became the village of Warren in 1893 and grew on the back of the Chrysler Truck Assembly Plant and the Detroit Arsenal Tank Plant during World War II. Today, Warren is home to leafy green spaces and a family-friendly waterpark, as well as the Detroit Arsenal of the United States Army.

Things to do in Warren

If you’re visiting in the summer months, you can cool off at the Red Oaks Waterpark, which encompasses themed pools, waterslides and an interactive splash pad. You can watch all the action from the River Ride, race your family and friends down the triple-flume waterslide or get soaked by the huge dump bucket. There’s also a toddler-friendly area and a wave pool.

Warren makes an ideal base for visiting the Edsel and Eleanor Ford House, which overlooks the shores of Lake St. Clair. Designed by the American architect Albert Kahn, this English Cotswold-style residence is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Not only does it boast a magnificent lakeside setting but it also houses an impressive collection of antiques and artworks.

Also nearby is the Michigan Military Technical & Historical Society, which preserves the stories of local residents who have served both in the United States and abroad. In addition to its displays of equipment, weapons and uniforms dating from World War I to the present day, it regularly hosts community events and lectures by experts in the field.

Getting around Warren
