Hanging around the centre of Tampin reveals a number of historic structures, such as the Tampin Magistrate’s Court, Kompleks Pentadbiran Daerah Tampin and Tampin Chinese Methodist Church. All of these surround Tampin Square, where you can often see street art and street performers.

If you’re looking to do some shopping, head to Tampin Shopping Centre, a popular supermarket that better resembles a hawker centre with clothing and food outlets. Visit The Baker’s Cottage for fresh pastries and sweet treats, or browse the range of books and magazines at Ruby Book Store Tampin.

Want to explore the surrounding nature? Drive about 10 minutes to Gunung Datuk Recreation Forest, where you can climb up a rocky outcrop to soak up panoramic countryside vistas or take a dip in an outdoor pool. The forest is also known for its immersive hiking trails, verdant native trees and cascading Bukit Tampin Waterfall.

Families visiting Tampin can drive about 20 minutes south to A’Famosa Water Theme Park, where you can ride down water slides, kick back in pools on an inner tube and dine at alfresco eateries. Cowboy Town is nearby and provides all-day entertainment with karaoke machines, a beer garden, ten-pin bowling and shopping arcade.

Getting around

Tampin is connected to surrounding cities and towns via the West Malaysian railway system, which runs through Palau Sebang/Tampin railway station, about one kilometre away. You can walk around the centre of town, but it’s best to rent a vehicle to explore the surrounding attractions.
