Where to stay in Sanchong District

About Sanchong District

The inner-city district of Sanchong brings the western side of New Tapei City to life with temples, parks and a thriving riverfront scene. Shopping malls and a cherished night market serve as popular local hubs.

Things to do

Outdoor parks provide welcome relief from urban life in Sanchong District, with the most popular ones stretching along Tamsui River. Xingfushuiyang Park offers a refreshing spot for jogging and picnics, while Erchong Riverside Park provides 800 hectares of green space for flying kites and playing sports, along with a 20-kilometre bike path and seven ecological mini-parks.

Looking for some memorable photographs? Head over to Zhongxiao Wharf, where the mooring bollard posts create a splash of colour in the landscape, painted in brilliant hues and outfitted with wild duck-shaped wind gauges. Hua-Jiang Wild Duck Nature Park sits near the wharf with sandbars and wetlands for Siberian and Japanise birds, as well as pavilions, walking paths and a skating rink for visitors.

Sanhe Night Market bursts to life in the evenings, with food vendors sizzling up local delicacies and street performers entertaining crowds. By day, the Sanchong Central Public Retail Market opens within the night market space. For intricately designed cloths and textiles, visit Bihua Street and the Taiwan Cloth Shops Museum Garden.

Xianse Temple, originally constructed in 1755, is dedicated to the City God and his wife, who is known as the Chinese Cupid. Taipu Temple enshrines one of the Eight Immortals and offers a tranquil park space and quiet sanctuary for meditation.

Getting around

Sanchong District has access to the Taipei metro system as well as the rapid transit line to Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport. Several bridges connect Sanchong to New Taipei City, where you can pick up a rental car. Taxis, buses and express buses also service the district.
