About Panglao

Overlooking the idyllic waters of Panglao Bay, the historic town of Panglao is located on Panglao Island. It’s a popular base for exploring the island’s sun-drenched beaches and spectacular coral reefs, as well as an organic farm that’s transforming local livelihoods.

Things to do

Panglao is famed for the powdery white sands of Alona Beach, considered one of the most beautiful stretches of sand in Bohol. Its palm-lined shores are backed by small shops and restaurants where you can grab a bite to eat before slipping into the crystal-clear waters.

Alona Beach features a house reef where you can go snorkelling to see colourful corals and a vast range of tropical fish. Want to venture deeper? Scuba diving is also available, with spectacular wall dives and beginner-friendly coral gardens to explore.

To escape the crowds of Alona Beach, hire an outrigger boat for a day trip to Virgin Island, a little piece of paradise in Panglao Bay. Visit at low tide when the waters reveal an idyllic stretch of beach where you can spend an afternoon in exclusive privacy.

Lovers of honey should visit the Bohol Bee Farm where resident bees help pollinate their organic gardens. Learn about the farm’s sustainable practices and education initiatives in weaving and bag making, then grab lunch at the on-site restaurant or sample their homemade organic ice cream.

Getting around

Tagbilaran Airport is around 35 minutes’ drive from Panglao, with taxis and jeepneys travelling throughout the island. The town itself can easily be explored on foot and outrigger boats are readily available for island-hopping day trips.
