Lined with historic buildings and decorated with cherry-red lanterns, Nanzhuang Old Street recalls the charm of old Taiwan. The street is famous for producing osmanthus wine, a traditional alcoholic beverage made from local flowers. You’ll also be tempted by shops selling pork buns, rice dumplings and stewed tofu.

Magnificent Quanhua Temple is dedicated to the Jade Emperor and has been welcoming pilgrims since 1897. The main hall is carved into the side of a sandstone mountain and is decorated with intricately carved dragons and phoenixes.

Don’t miss the observation platform, which offers fantastic views over the jungle. Xiangtian Lake is another natural gem, with emerald-green water and a picturesque town where you can enjoy tea and sweets.
