The Murray River keeps things rolling throughout the year with water sports, swimming, boating, fishing and cruises on nostalgic steamer vessels. Hop aboard the Captain Proud for afternoon-tea excursions, dinner cruises and group parties or take multi-night trips on the Proud Mary to Blanchetown.

You can also enjoy the river from Sturt Reserve, a riverfront green space perfect for picnics. It also has a bicycle track, skate ramp and kids’ play area. Many paddle boats depart from this area, which also boasts scenic river views.

Stroll through Captain’s Cottage Museum to discover the river’s history and learn local stories. Join spectators at the motor speedway and horseracing tracks, before dining at one of many small cafes and eateries in the town centre. You can spend an afternoon bowling and golfing or step back in time at a drive-in theatre.

Traveling with the family? Drive 20 minutes to Monarto Zoological Park for a guided safari at the open-range, 1,000-hectare zoo. Murray Bridge lies about 70 kilometres from Adelaide, where you can rent a car at Adelaide Airport. Buses and trains run to and from Adelaide and Melbourne, while taxis and public buses operate within the city limits.
