Enjoy a scenic drive through the viticultural landscapes of the Rogue Valley, which is dotted with museums, art galleries and restaurants. Sample Merlot and Sauvignon Blanc at one of the rustic cellar doors, then discover Oregon’s 19th-century gold rush legacy in historic Jacksonville.

Budding geologists should visit the Crater Rock Museum, which boasts one of the finest collections of rocks, minerals and gems on the West Coast. See 50-million-year-old fish fossils from the Green River Formation and step inside the darkened room to admire the glowing Fluorescent Mineral Display.

Medford is dotted with urban parks, including the sprawling gardens and lawns of Bear Creek Park, which regularly hosts community movie nights. Stretch your legs on a hike to the summit of Roxy Ann Peak in Prescott Park or enjoy a game of tennis or soccer in the recreational Fichtner-Mainwaring Park.

Medford is a great base for visiting Crater Lake National Park, which is located in the Cascade Mountains. Soak up the Crater Lake views along the scenic Rim Drive or hit one of the numerous trails that traverse the spectacular landscapes of this collapsed volcano.

Getting around

Rogue Valley International-Medford Airport is a 10-minute drive north of Medford and has connections to Los Angeles, San Francisco and Salt Lake City. Buses travel throughout Medford and the Bear Creek Greenway is a popular cycling route, while the downtown area can be explored on foot.
