Stroll along Las Pocitas beach to watch surfers or rent a board and learn how to surf on the gentle waves. If you’re up for a challenge, take a kitesurfing lesson or rent a jet ski or paddleboard.

Want to get up close to Mancora’s wildlife? The biodiverse coastline offers the opportunity to swim with sea turtles or marvel at breaching humpback whales. If you’d prefer more romance, ride horseback with your partner along the shoreline at sunset.

When you need a break, take a short taxi ride to the mud baths in Poza de Barro to soak your weary muscles. The hot water spring offers healing properties and the guided tours often include a bottle of wine.

For a change of scenery, drive an hour up the coast from Mancora to the Tumbes region. The landscape changes to lush green foliage, where you can observe wildlife in the Mangroves of Tumbes and hike past lagoons in Cerros de Amotape National Park.

Getting around

You can reach Mancora by flying into FAP Captain Guillermo Concha Iberico International Airport in Piura, then making the two-hour journey into town by car or bus. You can easily walk around the center of Mancora, while motorized tuk-tuks are also available.
