For a dose of natural wonder, head to Te Mata Peak looming nearly 400 metres above the Heretaunga Plains. Stop for a photograph at Saddle Lookout and refresh with a bite to eat at the Peak Restaurant.

Visit Craggy Range Winery to indulge in some of the region’s finest vintage wines. Go with a group for a tasting, check out the cattle sculptures in the front yard and enjoy views of Te Mata Peak in the distance. When you’re finished sampling the vino, grab a bite to eat at Terroir Restaurant.

Getting around

The easiest way to get around is on foot or by bicycle. Napier Airport is about a 20-minute drive from Hastings. The InterCity Bus offers services in and out of Hastings, with connections throughout the North Island.
