Spain and football are practically synonymous. Home to Real Madrid, the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium is one of the most famous football venues in the world, having hosted final matches for the European Cup and the FIFA World Cup over its nearly 70-year history.

Far north of the city centre, in Madrid’s Chamart in district, the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium is only readily accessible by way of Metro line 10, which stops at the Santiago Bernabeu station. A 15 minutes ride from the Plaza de Espana station, it is located at the western end of Calle Gran Via.

Originally built in the late 1940s, the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium has hosted its share of historic matches and was the setting for the European Cup final in 1957, 1969, 1980, and 2010. It was also the site of the final matches in the 1964 European Nations’ Cup and the 1982 FIFA World Cup.
