Things to do

Roam through Cavtat’s Old Town, where a striking collection of ancient taverns, rustic restaurants and fresh produce stalls line the cobblestone alleys. Enjoy a timeless view of the harbour while sipping on a glass of “rakia”, a plum brandy unique to the region.

Explore the House of Vlaho Bukovac, the childhood home and painting studio of the celebrated painter influential in the arts and culture movement of Croatia in the late-19th century. Admire Bukovac's stunning frescoes and eclectic style of painting while learning more about the artist through educational exhibits and interactive displays.

Hike along the scenic Ronald Brown Pathway. Pack a picnic and ascend a gently winding trail to the summit of Stražišće peak, where you’ll be rewarded with a commanding view of Bosnia, Croatia and Montenegro, as well as the ocean and surrounding mountains.

Head to the nearby village of Cilipi for a dose a traditional Croatian culture. The region of Konavle is known for its bright folk costumes, colourful embroidery and traditional dances. Walk along the coastline from Cavtat to reach Cilipi and catch a glimpse of the local singing and dancing in Cilipi’s town square.

Getting around

You can fly into Dubrovnik Airport, a 15-minute taxi ride from Cavtat. The town is a pleasure to explore on foot and a coastal footpath connects Cavtat to nearby Mocici and Cilipi. Buses and boats also run regularly between Cavtat and Dubrovnik.
