About Casa Grande

Located partway between Phoenix and Tucson, Casa Grande was founded in 1879 during the Arizona mining boom. It takes its name from the Casa Grande Ruins National Monument, which lies north-east, and preserves a series of ancient structures from the Hohokam culture.

Things to do in Casa Grande

If you’re interested in the history of Pinal County, visit the Museum of Casa Grande, which was founded as the Casa Grande Valley Historical Society in 1964. Its exhibits explore the region’s mining and agricultural industries, as well as its indigenous peoples and early immigrant settlers. The Museum of Casa Grande also showcases changing exhibits at the impressive City Hall.

Just around the corner from the Museum of Casa Grande is the Casa Grande Art Museum, which occupies a 1920s home listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It exhibits work created by local Arizona artists and is surrounded by an art-filled sculpture garden. Also nearby is the Casa Grande Neon Sign Park, where you’ll find colourfully illuminated signs of historic significance.

On the edge of Casa Grande’s downtown area is Peart Park, which is traversed by leafy walking trails and is home to a children’s playground. Sweeping views across the city are available from the Peart Road Trail, a rugged route accessible to both hikers and mountain bikers. Combine your hike with a visit to the Domes of Casa Grande, a collection of abandoned, round concrete buildings that are shrouded in mystery.
