Where to stay in Caramoan

About Caramoan

Caramoan is a picturesque town at the tip of the Caramoan Peninsula, home to inviting turquoise waters and soft white sands. The area is renowned for its watersports, as stand-up paddleboarding, cliff jumping and snorkelling are available year-round.

Things to do

Caramoan National Park is a hilly peninsula south of town and is made up of limestone karst formations, fast-flowing rivers and deep gorges. The park, spread out over 347 hectares, is bursting with natural beauty. Head here early and pay a visit to the bird sanctuary, home to the beautiful and rare green racket-tail bird.

Fancy a beach day? Head to the small island of Matukad to find three tranquil beaches and a small lagoon. A full day can be spent exploring the surrounding tropical forest, sampling exotic fruits and spotting native birds.

Caramoan is also home to the Our Lady of Peace Grotto, an iconic pilgrimage site that sits atop the Caramoan Mountain. Climb the 500 steps to visit this place of worship and admire the grand statue of the Virgin Mary. While here, you can enjoy extensive panoramic views of the surrounding islands and the tranquil Philippine Sea.

A visit to Lahos Island only emphasises the natural beauty surrounding Caramoan. The island is home to diverse marine life, coral snakes and two jagged limestone cliffs encircling an isolated beach.

Getting around

Virac Airport sits 43 kilometres from central Caramoan and you can cross the channel by ferry. Alternatively, Naga Airport is a four-hour drive away. Caramoan is compact and the easiest way to explore is on foot.
